- Unlimited customization possibilities in various formats. Templates are available for editing in Google Docs, Word, Google Slides, and PowerPoint. The first two editors are perfect for filling out and printing your family tree, while others offer more tools for customizing the design. Adjust any element and add text or photos in just a few clicks.

4 Generation Family Tree Templates FAQ
In genealogy, generations are counted starting from the proband. The proband is the person for whom the family tree is being created.
Here are the four generations:
- The first generation is the person the tree is built for (it may be you or another individual).
- The second generation consists of the proband’s parents.
- The third generation consists of the parents of the parents (grandparents).
- The fourth generation consists of the parents of the grandparents (great-grandparents).
Thus, a four-generation family tree consists of at least 15 people. The first generation includes one person (the proband), the second consists of two people (mother and father), the third includes four people (both parents’ parents), and the fourth consists of eight people (both parents’ grandparents).
Typically, a four-generation family tree is arranged from bottom to top. The proband should be placed at the lowest part of the chart, while the great-grandparents should be indicated at the top.
