In this tutorial, we will show you how to make a brochure on Google Docs. We recommend you study this manual carefully and start practicing!
How to Make a Brochure on Google Docs?
Checklist of crucial points we aim to highlight here:
  1. Formatting Paper
  2. Forming a Brochure
  3. Working with Data
  4. Tables and Templates

In this tutorial, we show you how to create a simple brochure in Google Docs.

Be it a pamphlet for educational and explicative purposes, or a brochure featuring your business products for the promotion, etc., Google Docs has all the tools you need to create these papers fast, easy, and for free. Here we cover creating a bi-fold and tri-fold brochure in Google Docs. Let’s start!

Watch the video from https://thegoodocs.com/ and find out how to make a brochure on Google Docs:

Formatting Paper

  • First, we switch the page orientation. For doing that, we go to “File” on the toolbar on top of the page and then select the “Page setup” down here
1
2
  • First, we switch the page orientation. For doing that, we go to “File” on the toolbar on top of the page and then select the “Page setup” down here
3
4
  • Then we change the page margins, and here it’s basically up to you, but most frequently, for instance, we go with 0.25 here. So, we type this number in each field of “Margins” (“Top”, “Bottom”, “Left”, “Right”)
5
6
  • And one more thing you can change here is, for example, the “Paper size” item in the drop-down, where we choose, for instance, “Statement (5.5″ × 8.5″)”
7
8
  • But it doesn’t matter in this example, and in most cases, we can leave it be (for instance, “Letter (8.5″ × 11″)”)
8.5
  • So, when we finish our customization, we press OK
9

Forming a Brochure

Now we split the page into two and then three parts, which is common for the brochure.

  • So, we go to “Format” on the toolbar on top of the page, then we choose “Columns” a bit lower. Here it is
10
  • And now click on the item in the middle. That just split the page into two parts. And now when you insert the data in here, it appears divided into two columns, and basically, this already is bi-fold formatting for your brochure
11
12
  • And the same is regarding the tri-fold formatting for the brochure. We go to “Format”, then we select “Columns” and then the last item here, three parts
13
14
  • There are a few extra functions here. We go back to “Format”, then we select “Columns”, and click “More options”. Here we can choose “Number of columns” manually and change the spacing between the columns (“Spacing (inches)”). If we need, we can put a line between the columns by placing a tick in front of the “Line between columns” option. We will use random customization here, as we want to show you how it works. And then we press “Apply” to confirm the changes. Here it is. Or you can remove the line between the columns if you need. You add the customization that you need

Working with Data

  • Then you basically enter the data just like you normally do. For example, we will copy the text and then paste it back into this document. And it takes the given formatting, making the text go from top to bottom in the first column, and then keeps going in the second and the third ones
20
  • Okay, then we need to put an image here. We’ll insert it in a common way by uploading it from our computer. So, we put the mouse cursor to the place where we need the image to be inserted, press the “Insert” item on the toolbar on top of the page, then we choose “Image” and “Upload from computer”. Here's the one that we choose, for instance. And it’s here, taking the given formatting as well and fitting in the column. And keep filling the columns with content
21
22

Tables and Templates

  • And another way, if you want to have a border around your content, you can create a 3-cell table. Go to “Insert”, then select the “Table” item. Here is how it looks
23
  • Now create two or three cells, for instance. For example, we will choose three cells to show you how it works. And it works the same, except that the content in the second column won’t follow the first. That’s it, basically. Then you can change the page color, add different graphical elements, set a background image, and customize it just how you need
24
25
26
27
28
  • Or you can get some free brochure template, search for it in Google, or go to https://thegoodocs.com/, then choose “Templates” on top of the page. For example, for our task to make a brochure on Google Docs, we can go to the “Marketing” column here and then to “Brochures”. On this page, there are basically dozens of different brochure templates. All the templates are free, so you can choose whichever you like and use it absolutely free of charge, instead of designing one from scratch
